Progress

It's crazy how much you can get done with three cups of coffee and lots of free time. Work on the NJNM site is coming along nicely and I hope to have the entire thing launched by the end of the week - provided I can keep up this nice pace. I lost about forty minutes of work time today already thanks to giving my cat a bath.

I don't know about you but I like the stuff that has come to be called "Web 1.0." You know, text and bitmaps, and an occasional little bit of Javascript. None of these fancy-ass blog widgets, though anymore, unless you want to code the entire blog yourself and have very good knowledge of PHP, you need them.

Being a person who had dial-up for most of his life, I try to code my pages so they load fast and look right for everyone. That means minimal crazy fonts, using tables instead of frames (Christ I hate frames), little to no Flash stuff and repeated one-pixel lines wherever I can fit them in. The result might not be as BAM! as some fancier pages, but it'll work on even the most outdated machine.

Anyhow, here's a demo of the front page for NJNM. I'm adding a rotating banner image and maybe playing with the fonts, but I'm pretty pleased with the overall layout. I'm shooting for that Apple 2E retro computer look. Enjoy.
